This is the first song we wrote together as The Norfolk Downs back in 2005 in Dave’s old studio on Norfolk street, right down from Tonic (r.i.p.). We recorded it the same day we wrote it & this is that recording.

I’m a good girl from Detroit who succumbed to the religion of music while studying in Boston.I had seen Dave’s band, The Dambuilders, play many times and I always thought he was so cool. I’d see him at parties and shows but I was always too intimidated to really talk to him. Years later, in New York, we both performed songs with Blue in the title at a curated show called The Blue Cabaret. I sang Elvis Presley & Elvis Costello, he played an Orange Juice tune. Soon after, he joined my band Mascott for awhile and I would sing on his solo stuff or Gramercy Arms songs when he’d have me. Something clicked, and we’ve been making music together ever since.
